Police: Robber Arrested After Stealing Woman's iPad in College Park

A city parking enforcement officer attempted to intervene.

Authorities say an 18-year-old man was arrested Wednesday after robbing a woman of her iPad in College Park. 

According to Prince George's County police, officers responded to Guilford Road near Wake Forest Road around 11:10 a.m. for a report of a strong-arm robbery.

The victim, a 63-year-old woman, told police she had been approached by an unknown man as she was walking home. He reportedly assaulted her and attempted to steal her purse.

Though the woman was able to keep her purse, the alleged robber made off with her iPad after a struggle. She suffered minor cuts and bruises in the incident and was later treated on the scene.

A College Park Parking Enforcement officer attempted to intervene during the robbery and was able to point officers in the direction of the attacker, police said.

Patrol officers and a K-9 unit tracked the suspect to a shed in the 4600 block of Guilford Place, where he was placed under arrest. 

Police identified the man as Johnny Alejandro Turcios, 18, of Keokee Street in Langley Park. He allegedly admitted his involvement in the incident and faces charges of robbery and second-degree assault.
