Woman Injured as Car Plunges Over 20 Feet in Beltsville

The victim's car landed on a creek bed below the outer loop offramp to I-95 N.

Authorities say a woman suffered non-life-threatening injuries Tuesday when her car plunged at least 20 feet from an I-495 offramp in Beltsville.

The victim's vehicle landed on a creek bed below the outer loop exit to I-95 North, according to Prince George's County Fire Department spokesman Mark Brady.

The crash forced responders to conduct a "challenging" rescue on a steep embankment, Brady tweeted.

The driver, a 30-year-old woman, was safely extricated and transported to an area hospital.

Several lanes of the Beltway were closed following the accident, but traffic has since returned to normal.
