Report: NOAA Contractor May Lay Off 106 in College Park, Silver Spring

Workers for security firm MVM Inc. would likely be rehired by the company's successor, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.

A contractor which provides security services for the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration's facilities in College Park and Silver Spring may lay off 106 workers this fall, the Baltimore Business Journal reports.

Northern Virginia-based MVM Inc. has notified the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation of the possible layoffs, according to the Journal. MVM's contract with the NOAA is due to expire Sept. 30.

Even if MVM fails to renew its contract, however, the Journal writes that the company's workers would likely be rehired by the next firm to take over security responsibilities.
