Your Beliefs
At Patch, we promise always to report the facts as objectively as possible and otherwise adhere to the principles of good journalism. However, we also acknowledge that true impartiality is impossible because human beings have beliefs. So in the spirit of simple honesty, our policy is to encourage our editors to reveal their beliefs to the extent they feel comfortable. This disclosure is not a license for you to inject your beliefs into stories or to dictate coverage according to them. In fact, the intent is the opposite: we hope that the knowledge that your beliefs are on the record will cause you to be ever mindful to write, report and edit in a fair, balanced way. And if you ever see evidence that we failed in this mission, please let us know.

Politics
How would you describe your political beliefs?
I tend to associate my political beliefs based on issues more so than a political party. With that said, I lean more toward liberal politics where the preservation of human freedom and human rights are key.
Are you registered with a certain party?
No.

Religion
How religious would you consider yourself? (casual, observant, devout, non religious)
I am a Christian, and I consider myself a religious person. I grew up in Methodist and Baptist churches, and I am currently looking for a church home in Potomac.

Local Hot-Button Issues
What do you think are the most important issues facing the community?
As a new Potomac resident I am learning a lot about the community as I go, but I hope to cover some important issues in the area, such as education. Education is a concern in Potoamc, not because it is lacking, but because it is central to the community. Parents, teachers, administrators and students put education as a top priority and any changes in the public or private schools are important to them.
Development in Potomac and the environmental impacts of developments are other important issues.
Where do you stand on each of these issues?
Although I am still developing an understanding of Potomac issues, I agree with the stance on education and its importance.
As far as development, many changes in structures in the area change the character of the town but add new resources for residents to use. Development that does not harm the environment should be judged on a case-by-case basis, instead of as a whole.
