Jeremy Spiegel was born in Washington, DC, but his family moved to Cincinnati, Ohio, when he was six years old.
As someone who has been writing for as long as he can remember, Jeremy has contributed to a variety of Maryland publications over the past few years. This past summer, he was an intern in the editorial department of Cincinnati Magazine. His responsibilities included fact-checking stories, writing pieces for the magazine and putting stories online.
He also worked as intern in the marketing and communications department of Standard Textile Company at its worldwide headquarters in Cincinnati. After graduating, Jeremy would like to write professionally, either in a marketing role or as a journalist.
He came to the University of Maryland because of its strong journalism school and its proximity to DC. A history double major, Jeremy is an avid sports fan and is especially passionate about the Cincinnati Reds and Maryland Terrapins.
He has been a member of the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity since his freshman year and served in a chair position for two years. He is also involved in the university’s Gemstone program, a team-based research program that has given him the opportunity to work in a five-person team that is comparing the effectiveness between an online education and a traditional face-to-face classroom environment.
