Mike, you took the words right out of my mouth. Dave Craig has my vote for gov. too.
Politicians like Mr. Craig and the new Anne Arundel County Executive work FOR the people and not their own pockets unlike our O'Malley. I thank you Mr. Craig for having the courage and foresight to fight for our communities.and the people of Harford County! I just hope the other citizens get it right at election time and look back on the 37 tax increases the Democrats pushed through in this term.

Harford County residents are not allowed at this time to use Balto. Co's Eastern Landfill. My question was when the agreement with Eastern Landfill goes through in 2016 can Harford residents dump their waste at Eastern without being turned away because of their residency in Harford County? It's closer for Joppa/Edgewood residents to use Eastern than travel to Scarboro Rd.

  • On the article How Harford County Lawmakers Voted on Death Penalty Repeal

They got it right this time! The killing of any human being in "cold" blood should be dealt with supreme punishment. The life long pain and suffering families and friends endure is nothing to life in prison to the murderer who has no honest remorse. The gov. got it wrong again. You cannot possibly save taxpayer money on pro longing a murderer's life in prison when you add up the daily food, board, and detention law officers' salaries to watch them. Fear of the consequences in wrong doing helps to keep our society a little safer since law enforcement officers cannot be every where all the time, they relie on this "fear" factor. ex. We do 65 on the inter state because we don't know if we'll get caught trying our luck at 80 by that state trooper who may not be in the line of sight. The same applies to any mass murderer killing innocent children or taking sniper attacks on civilians. With the death penalty we have the fear factor in place that will make that person think twice before aiming his fire arm at another human being, outside of self defense.
I'm worried about the judicial system if this repeal goes through. Will a convicted murderer only get sentenced on a lesser charge and not life if he makes a plea bargain with his attorney? The system is not perfect and I hope and pray no innocent individual is wrongly sentenced to death without extensive investigation and reliable DNA testing but it's all we have in this society to keep it safe for ourselves and the children.

Bob Ernst is a good man who takes Solid Waste and the Single Stream programs very seriously. I work for the Maryland Environmental Service where we receive Harford's used mattresses. I worked with Bob when Coale Truck Transport hauled the "blue bags" to MES many years ago. I just wished we had that Transfer Station in Joppa. Sure beats the hour drive to Scarborough Rd. from this side of the county. Ed Baranowski - Weighmaster MES

My best wishes to all the couples! We are ALL made in the image and likeness of God! As a 60 year old who is happily married, I respect people's dignity and their right to have a fluent life in this country. I have spent some time in the gay/lesbian/bi/transgender community in Rehoboth Beach, DE. I told my gay friend that I'm amazed how that community accepted me regardless I was happily married to my wife. They never downed me or persecuted my different beliefs on same sex marriage. We had intelligent subjective discussions on the subject. There are quite a few of older gay/lesbian couples who have been together longer than some heterosexual relationships. I never felt more accepted in their community and was treated the same as they wished to be treated. We are talking about human beings who want the best of happiness in their lives just like the heterosexual community. Again, all the best to ANY married couple and I hope they find peace, happiness, and fulfillment in their lives.

We don't have to worry about the Myans End of the World prophecy.
We are destroying our own society little by little. It's sad to think that Joppatowne was meant to be a safe, affordable prosperous community for hard working blue collar workers and their families back in the 1960's and now it's a dumping ground for human bodies. I hope Alexander gets the mental help he needs and never returns to Joppa after he's released by the medical doctors down the road.
Was this fair justice, though for the victims?

I wish Father all of the best in getting his life back together again. I know this is very hard on both the Church and Father Bullock.
I'm not a devout Catholic anymore but I truly believe the Pope should consider marriage within their clergy. Priests are humans and not "gods". I am very happy as an agnostic.

    O NO! O Malley!

Slot casinos are just a temporary fix to our weakened economy. The construction workers will be unemployed again after the casinos are built. The money will go to
the casino owners and fatten their pockets and leave the few employed citizens in this state with empty pockets. We've lost big companies headquartered in Maryland because of high tax revenues. But as the "O" says - We Are Moving Forward". The real answer is forward to what? nO hOpe and nO Change

I am an employee of the Maryland Environmental Service. Our company is headed by Mr. Jim Harkins (former County Exec.) is a quasi state agency. I can confirm that any transfer station must be regulated by the MDE to follow safe environmental practice to the earth and its residence. MES is a very professional solid waste/water treatment facility. No trash is left on site at the transfer station for that given day. MES has the Balto. County contract to operate the Cockeysville (Texas Lanfil - BCRRF), and the Western Acceptance Facility in Lansdowne.
As a Joppatowne resident since 1978, the homes on the Balto. County side Route 40 Corridor) cannot use the Eastern Landfill even though we are 4 miles from that facility. Balto. County residents' taxes pay for their FREE solid waste drop off at three transfer stations. Harford County residents on the Rt. 40 corridor DO NOT have such privileges. We either pay a private hauler or travel to the Fawn Grove, PA line (Scarborough Road) to get rid of our wastes at $6.00 a vehicle!
We NEED a Transfer Station on THIS side of the County!
