Update, 2:10 p.m.: The woman found dead in her Kent Hall dorm room was Sarah Hancock, 20, of Bel Air, according to police. Cause of death is unknown at this time and will be determined by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, police said. No further information was released. I had a "massive Injury" from a fall, and had experience with both PG and UMD Shock Trauma in the aftermath. While PG was a nightmare, UMD was a legendary godsend. I certainly hope these two law enforcement officers had the good fortune to be transported to Baltimore. more ›

Update, 11:01 p.m.: Major Marc Limansky of the University of Maryland Police Department released the following statement Wednesday evening on the evacuation of McKeldin Library: Today, at approximately 3:00 p.m., UMPD received a report of an individual who approached a McKeldin Library staff member inside the library and made an inquiry which warranted further investigation. Although there was no direct verbal threat made toward the library, the inquiry contained alarming language and was outside of the norm.
