The ninth annual Puppy Bowl will again air Sunday before the 2013 Super Bowl. Check out the cuteness on Animal Planet from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. (ET) on Feb. 3. Vernon Davis of the San Francisco 49ers and Torrey Smith of the Ravens are both Maryland football alums.
Maryland Terrapin football fans have something extra to cheer about in Sunday's Super Bowl—two former University of Maryland football players will be facing each other on the field. Vernon Davis, who played for UMD under former head coach Ralph Friedgen from 2003-2006, was selected by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 2006 draft, where he continues to play as tight end. Torrey Smith, was also coached by Friedgen for a few years before he retired. Smith played for the Terps from 2007 to 2011, when he was selected by the Baltimore Ravens in the second round of the draft.
