UPDATE: Man Arrested in Connection to Shanghai Tokyo Robbery

Man arrested near the restaurant Tuesday night.

The Prince George’s County Police Department arrested a Washington, D.C. man Tuesday in connection to last week’s Shanghai Tokyo strong-armed robbery, according to a PGPD press release. Police arrested James Lakeen Turner, 18, of the 400 block of Lebaum Street, around 7:20 p.m. after a brief chase on foot. He later confessed his involvement in the crime, according to police. The arrest comes five days after the theft, in which a purse and iPhone were snatched from a diner at the restaurant around 4 p.m.  According to restaurant spokesman Dave Baker, the woman was sitting quietly in the restaurant wearing headphones. UPDATE: Shanghai Tokyo Owner Replaces Victim’s Stolen iPhone

Owner Joe Chen bought an iPhone for a customer after her cell phone was snatched.

The woman robbed of her purse and iPhone in Friday’s strong-armed robbery at Shanghai Tokyo Restaurant at 8300 Baltimore Ave. received a bittersweet surprise earlier this week: a new iPhone, courtesy of restaurant owner Joe Chen. The gift comes after an unidentified male approached the woman—sitting quietly in a corner of the restaurant with headphones in—and grabbed her purse and fled.  The robbery occurred around 4 p.m.    Restaurant spokesman David Baker says Chen bought the iPhone for the victim as a way to demonstrate his loyalty to customers. “Joe’s motto is ‘no customer, no business,’” Baker said in an e-mail to Patch.  “I think his very generous act proves it’s more than a cutline for him!” Baker added no new developments have …
