Police Identify Officers From PCP-Fueled Shootout

A 21-year-old fired shots at a corporal and eluded capture multiple times before he was arrested, according to the PGPD.

Prince George's County Police have identified the officers involved in last week's College Park shootout, in which a man tripping on PCP allegedly evaded capture multiple times before being apprehended. According to the PGPD, patrol officers were dispatched to the 4700 block of Lakeland Road Thursday around 10:24 p.m. after a report of a man on drugs wielding a gun. Cpl. Jordan Swonger was the first to arrive on scene, where he allegedly observed the suspect—21-year-old Andrey McKoy—and the suspect's mother walking toward him. Police said McKoy pulled out a handgun and fired multiple shots at Swonger, several of which hit the officer's cruiser. Update: Police Say Suspect in College Park Shooting on PCP

The suspect eluded officers six times before being apprehended.

  Update, July 6, 4:35 p.m.: Prince George's County Police say the man suspected in Thursday night's shooting in College Park has been charged with six crimes. Andre McKoy, 21, of the 4700 block of Lakeland Road, was charged with: According to PGPD Spokeswoman Julie Parker, McKoy has now been upgraded to good condition at a local hospital. McKoy was on PCP according to his mother, who called 911, and police. i don't have children, but i do have a wonderful mother, and none of her kids has ever used PCP, has ever touched a gun, or has ever stolen a car (let alone a police car). and yet -- shockingly -- nobody has ever "praise[d]" her "for her courage." perhaps if i try to murder law-enforcement officials, my mother will get the praise she deserves.   more ›
