Federal prosecutors say Xavier Eccleston, 35, distributed crack and powder cocaine he bought in Prince George's County.
A Bethesda man has been sentenced to more than 17 years in prison for dealing powder and crack cocaine that he bought in Prince George's County, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Maryland. Federal prosecutors said Xavier Eccleston, 35, re-distributed between 500 grams and five kilograms of powder cocaine and 28 grams of crack cocaine per month between June 2010 and September 2011. Eccleston bought the drugs from suppliers in Prince George’s County, including from a Landover crack house, according to the release. Ken Ulman dropped by Landover Wednesday to satisfy a bet with his Prince George's County equal.
Howard County Executive Ken Ulman dropped by Landover on Wednesday to pick up roadside trash in a Redskins jersey, fulfilling the terms of a wager with Prince George's County Executive Rushern Baker. The two top officials had placed a friendly bet on Sunday's matchup between the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Redskins. Ulman, a diehard Ravens fan, lost out when Baltimore fell to the 'Skins 31-28 in overtime. Baker, ever the gracious victor, invited Ulman earlier this week to meet him at the Prince George's County Sports & Learning Complex in the shadow of FedEx Field. Police believe the same pair has held up stores in East Riverdale, Suitland, and Landover in the past month.
Prince George's County police have released a video from last week's stickup at East Pines Liquor Store in East Riverdale—one in an apparent string of local robberies. The incident occurred on Sept. 25 at around 7:20 a.m. As seen in the video, two suspects allegedly entered the store and pulled a gun on the employees. After restraining them, police said the pair stole cash from the register and fled the scene. Similar robberies occurred on Sept. 22 at Base Liquors in Suitland and on Sept. 4 at David's Liquors in Landover. In one instance, a suspected getaway vehicle was spotted. 'It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye,' police wrote.
A man lugging a five-gallon water jug full of coins and bills dropped the jug as police approached but failed to elude officers and is now charged with housebreaking, according to Prince George's County Police. Authorities said an officer first spotted the man walking with the jug around 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Countrywood Ct. in Landover. "It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye," the PGPD wrote in a statement. When the officer approached the suspect—identified as Demetrius Jerome Coles, 19, of Capitol Heights—he allegedly dropped the jug and ran. Seriously i'm happy they have the distributor, BUT, there can be no sale without a buyer and they need to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law in this case, for justice to be exacted. Distributors alone does not corrupt society and neighoods, buyer play a hugh part in the scheme of supply and demand. Hugh more ›
