Prince George's County Police participated in Project SOLO and Operation Road Runner over the weekend.
Ten drivers were arrested and charged with DUIs over the weekend, when Prince George's County police participated in Project Saving Our Loved Ones (SOLO) over the weekend. Officers focused their enforcement along Rt. 193, Baltimore Avenue, Kenilworth Avenue and Riggs Road, according to the department's blog. There were more than 170 traffic stops and officers also issued 190 citations in addition to the arrests on Saturday. On Sunday, the department's Special Operations Division's Traffic Enforcement Section and Aviation Unit participated in "Operation Road Runner"—which targets speeding motorcyclists. The motorists were arrested after failing field sobriety tests, police said.
Saturday's sobriety checkpoint in Riverdale Park resulted in 673 checks and three individuals arrested and charged with Driving While Impaired (DWI), according to Riverdale Park police. The checkpoint—part of a multi-jurisdictional effort to deter driving while impaired and alcohol related car accidents—was held from 9 p.m to 1 a.m. on Saturday in the 5500 block of Kenilworth Avenue. Of the 673 vehicles that were checked, eight drivers were asked to perform field sobriety tests, said police. Three individuals failed the tests and were arrested and subsequently charged with DWI.
