Discuss Lakeland Public Safety Matters, Stats at Walk and Talk

Lakeland residents can meet and walk with a community liaison of the Prince George's County Police Department.

Residents of Lakeland will have the opportunity to discuss public safety in their neighborhood with Officer J. Black, the Prince George's County Police Department's community liaison for south College Park. Meet Thursday evening, at College Park Community Center, for a walk and talk. "This is an excellent opportunity for residents of the community to meet each other and to discuss public safety matters, crime statistics and other concerns with the police," according to the announcement. Greenbelt Man Charged in UMd. Theft

Student's property stolen while left unattended at Cole Field House.

A Greenbelt man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking a University of Maryland student's wallet, cell phone and other personal property, according to police. Michael Lee, 50, is charged with theft under $1,000 and trespassing on school grounds, police report. According to a University of Maryland news release: The victim left his belongings unattended while playing soccer at Cole Field House. He noticed a man near his belongings, and later realized they were missing. After the victim reported his missing property, police found that the stolen credit cards were used at a Brentwood gas station. Brentwood Police tracked down Lee, who had the student's property in his possession. Lee is currently being held on $2,000 bond at the Prince …

Man Assaulted at UMd. Sunday Morning

Victim was transported to hospital with minor injury.

  A man was allegedly assaulted early Sunday morning on the University of Maryland campus, near Charles Hall, according to police. The victim was walking from Knox Road onto campus when he passed a group of about 15 individuals, according to a university police report. "Words were exchanged," before the victim continued toward Charles Hall, the report stated. Police said three males approached the victim and assaulted him. The victim, a 19-year-old, was transported to a hospital with a cut on his head, The Diamondback reported. College Park Carjacking: Fabricated

Gaithersburg man has been criminally charged after falsely telling police he was robbed of his car at gun point at Hartwick Road.

  A carjacking that reportedly occurred late Tuesday night in College Park was actually a story fabricated by the apparent victim, police report. Shoaib Khan, 35, of Gaithersburg has been criminally charged by the Prince George's County Police with making a false statement to a police officer, according to the Prince George's County Police blog. If convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of six months in prison and/or a $500 fine, according to the blog. Khan had told police that Tuesday night, he was approached and assaulted by three males at the 4500 block of Hartwick Road and that they stole his car, police reported. Update: Carjacking Story Fabricated

The victim's car and property were allegedly stolen late Tuesday night on Hartwick Road. Victim reported that the suspects placed an object on his back that felt like a handgun, police say.

Adelphi Man Tells Police Burglars Stole His Weed

Three masked men stole marijuana, a car and other property from an Adelphi man, according to police.

An Adelphi man called 911 at 1 p.m. Monday, saying that he woke up to find an armed man entering his room asking for his money and drugs, according to a Prince George's Police 911 recording. "He took my weed and took my rent money," the victim is recorded telling police. Three masked men entered an unlocked home at 8311 Curry Place, according to Officer Iris Borrero with the Prince George's Police. Two men were inside the home, Borrero said. One of them reported that in addition to taking his marijuana they took around $500 to $600. The suspects also demanded the victim's keys and took his 2003 silver Honda, a laptop, and some cell phones, according to police. The victim's license plate is MD 1AA9783, Borrero said. Arrests Made in Guns, Marijuana Bust The Prince George’s County Police received a drug complaint for a residence in the 1700 block of Barrington Court, Bowie, MD, according to a police report. The District II Special Assignment Team and the Narcotic Enforcement Division conducted an investigation. A search and seizure warrant was obtained and executed on April 20. Police Investigate Robbery Near Graduate Hills Apartments

Police said two robbers took property from two University of Maryland students on Tuesday. No one was injured.

According to the alert, released at 11:26 a.m. Wednesday: Two males approached two female students while they were walking near the 3400 block of Tulane Drive near the Graduate Hills Apartments at 9:40 p.m. Tuesday.
