VIDEO: Planting Cabbage at Miller Farms

Miller Farms has been heavily involved with the College Park Farmers' Market for many years. The market is set to open for the season this Saturday.

Long before there was a downtown College Park Farmers' Market on Sundays, Miller Farms in Clinton was instrumental in getting the Saturday market at the Ellen Linson Swimming Pool up and running. The family has been heavily involved in both markets since then. Patch visited the Millers in March to learn about the history of the farm, the family's role in the markets and the operations of the farm. In this video, Phil Miller explains how they use a machine—a tobacco planter in a past life—to plant cabbage and other greens. This is the second in a video series featuring Miller Farms. VIDEO: College Park Markets May Soon Offer Free-Range Eggs, Ice Cream

Patch paid a visit to the Millers in Clinton, who currently operate the two farmers' markets in College Park.

While the city considers appointing a commission that would guide the future of the City Hall Farmers' Market, Miller Farms in Clinton will continue to manage both of College Park's markets this spring, through the fall. The farmers market in the parking lot of city hall will begin its second year of operation on Sunday, running from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. Brad Miller, 24, will be in charge, just as last year. His father, Phil Miller, 59, will continue to manage the market at the Ellen Linson Swimming Pool on Paint Branch Parkway, beginning Saturday, May 5, operating from 7 a.m. until noon.
