Three Arrested in String of 50 Home Burglaries

The men targeted homes in Oxon Hill and Fort Washington.

Police say three men have been charged in a burglary spree that targeted more than 50 homes across Prince George's County. Anthony Nyrekie Edwards, 40, of the 2400 block of Owens Road in Oxon Hill was arrested along with David Benjamin Neal, 24, of the 2300 block of Owens Road and Jamal Cooke, 21, of the 2300 block of Owens Road. The suspects went to homes in Oxon Hill and Fort Washington taking weapons, computers, jewelry, televisions and other personal belongings, according to Prince George's County Police. At one point they reportedly stole a safe with valuables worth nearly $70,000. Police said a resident helped them identify the suspects by providing a license plate number for a suspect's vehicle. Police Seek Suspect in College Park Vehicle Break-Ins

Investigators believe the man has burglarized numerous vehicles in the past two months.

Prince George's County police are working to identify a man wanted in a recent string of thefts from vehicles in College Park. According to investigators, the man has broken into and stolen valuables from "numerous" cars over the past two months. Authorities believe the suspect, captured in the photo at right, burglarized several vehicles in the 8700 block of Baltimore Avenue around 5:00 a.m. Thursday. Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call the PGPD's Northern Regional Investigative Division at 301-699-2601. Police are also urging residents to keep their vehicles locked and to avoid storing valuables inside.

Prince George's Police Search for Appliance Thief

The suspect has been reportedly been stealing appliances from recently constructed homes across the county.

Authorities have released the photograph of a vehicle connected to the burglaries of at least 25 home construction sites across Prince George's County. According to police, the suspect is stealing refrigerators, dishwashers, ovens, and other appliances from newly constructed homes between the hours of 11 p.m. and 4 a.m. The photos were taken at the most recent burglaries on March 11 in the 1700 block of Fernwood Drive in Capitol Heights. Based on the image, police believe the vehicle is a 1998 Chevy Tahoe or Suburban with Maryland tag number 7AY000. The thefts have resulted in an estimated $400,000 in damages and stolen goods, police said. Sites in Bowie and Upper Marlboro were also hit, among other locations. Anyone with information on …

Arrests Made in Break-Ins at UMD Varsity Team House

Three men, including one student, face charges of burglary and theft in the case.

University of Maryland police say three people have been arrested in connection with a string of break-ins at the College Park campus's Varsity Team House. Igor Cooper Rosensteel, Richard Nathan Landa, and Ian Robert Hammer face charges of burglary and theft in the case. Hammer is a student at UMD. According to police, athletic equipment worth more than $20,000 was taken from the facility in November and December, much of it belonging to the university's lacrosse and baseball programs. The perpetrators reportedly forced their way into the building. Many of items were then being resold on an auction website, police said. University Park Home Burglarized

No suspects have been located.

A University Park home was burglarized Tuesday, according to University Park Police. The burglar broke the rear door of the house in the 6700 block of 40th Ave. between 10:40 a.m. and 1 p.m. He then entered the home and stole a 40-inch flat screen TV, and x-box, assorted DVD’s and cash. The University Park Police and Prince George's County Police responded and checked the home. No suspects were located after a canvas of the area. The area was canvassed for witnesses.  No suspect/s was located. The  investigation is on-going.

TV, Laptops Stolen From 44th Avenue Home

University Park Police say the break-in happened Monday during daylight hours.

Numerous valuables were taken Monday when a residence in the 6600 block of 44th Ave. was burglarized, according to University Park Police. The occupants of the home returned from work around 4:45 p.m. to find that a rear kitchen window had been shattered and several items stolen, police said.  A flat screen TV, jewelry, two laptop computers, and other electronics were reportedly removed from the house. Prince George's County Police searched the scene for fingerprints and canvassed the area for witnesses. Adelphi Man Tells Police Burglars Stole His Weed

Three masked men stole marijuana, a car and other property from an Adelphi man, according to police.

An Adelphi man called 911 at 1 p.m. Monday, saying that he woke up to find an armed man entering his room asking for his money and drugs, according to a Prince George's Police 911 recording. "He took my weed and took my rent money," the victim is recorded telling police. Three masked men entered an unlocked home at 8311 Curry Place, according to Officer Iris Borrero with the Prince George's Police. Two men were inside the home, Borrero said. One of them reported that in addition to taking his marijuana they took around $500 to $600. The suspects also demanded the victim's keys and took his 2003 silver Honda, a laptop, and some cell phones, according to police. The victim's license plate is MD 1AA9783, Borrero said.
