'It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye,' police wrote.
A man lugging a five-gallon water jug full of coins and bills dropped the jug as police approached but failed to elude officers and is now charged with housebreaking, according to Prince George's County Police. Authorities said an officer first spotted the man walking with the jug around 1 p.m. in the 1700 block of Countrywood Ct. in Landover. "It was a sight that would catch anyone’s eye," the PGPD wrote in a statement. When the officer approached the suspect—identified as Demetrius Jerome Coles, 19, of Capitol Heights—he allegedly dropped the jug and ran. Coles was later spotted and detained near a wooded area after a short foot pursuit, police said. Officers also recovered a flatscreen TV from the surrounding woods and noticed that the …

Three women arrested in University Park Wednesday after an apparent break-in will be charged with multiple thefts from across the area, according to police. The suspects — whose names have not yet been released — were reportedly taken into custody around 3:25 p.m. in the 4200 block of Van Buren St. According to University Park police, officers initially responded to the area after an alarm call from a residence in the 4200 block of Clagett Road. Though the house was "checked and found to be safe," police said, officers were notified around the same time that three individuals appeared to be stealing property from a front porch on Van Buren Street. I really don't think it's just "bleeding hearts" who believe in the concept of "innocent until proven guilty." It's part of the due process afforded by the Constitution. Has nothing to do with political/moral ideals, as much as you may like to make that connection.   more ›
