Police are investigating three separate robberies.
Prince George's County Police are looking into two armed robberies and an attempted armed robbery in College Park Wednesday. The incidents were related, police said. A suspect robbed a male University of Maryland student was held up at gunpoint Oct. 10 around 8:30 p.m. near the 9100 block of Baltimore Ave. The man suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital by a family member. The second incident occurred between 8:30 p.m. and 8:50 p.m. A suspect attempted to rob a second male UMD student in the 8200 block of Baltimore Ave. In the third incident, a female UMD student was robbed at gunpoint around 8:50 p.m. in the 8200 block of Baltimore Ave. No other injuries were reported. Police believe the same pair has held up stores in East Riverdale, Suitland, and Landover in the past month.
Prince George's County police have released a video from last week's stickup at East Pines Liquor Store in East Riverdale—one in an apparent string of local robberies. The incident occurred on Sept. 25 at around 7:20 a.m. As seen in the video, two suspects allegedly entered the store and pulled a gun on the employees. After restraining them, police said the pair stole cash from the register and fled the scene. Similar robberies occurred on Sept. 22 at Base Liquors in Suitland and on Sept. 4 at David's Liquors in Landover. In one instance, a suspected getaway vehicle was spotted. Two suspects with handguns robbed the 7-11 convenience store on Edgewood Road Monday morning.
A cash reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for a tip that leads to the arrest and indictment of the two suspects police believe are responsible for an armed robbery that occurred at the 7-11 in north College Park early Monday morning. Two suspects took money from the convenience store, located at 4921 Edgewood Road, at approximately 12:40 a.m. Monday, according to the Prince George's County Police blog. Both suspects carried black semi-automatic handguns, but no one was hurt in the incident, according to Cpl. Rodney Gause. CK One and Done: PG Police Sniff Out Perfume Theft Ring For two District of Columbia women, their scented trail of theft has finally been sniffed out by the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD), with groundwork laid by the Glenarden Police Department. The PGPD arrested 19-year old Darquesha Shelby Wilkinson and 23-year old Latasha Renee Mungo for their involvement in an organized theft ring where thousands of dollars worth of stolen assorted perfumes were recovered, according to police. Loss prevention officers at JC Penney spotted Wilkinson and Mungo stealing assorted perfumes on on May 8, in the store on the 9000 block of McHugh Drive in Glenarden, according to police. PGPD jackpot sting: More than 23 pounds of marijuana, $4,000 in cash and ammunition seized The Prince George’s County Police Department’s (PGPD) Special Enforcement and Special Operations divisions made a substantial drug seizure on the morning of May 4 in Suitland, MD. Police conducted a search warrant at an apartment in the 3500 block of Parkway Terrace Drive. Police report a recovery of more than 23 pounds of marijuana, more than $4,000 in cash and ammunition. Three masked men stole marijuana, a car and other property from an Adelphi man, according to police.
An Adelphi man called 911 at 1 p.m. Monday, saying that he woke up to find an armed man entering his room asking for his money and drugs, according to a Prince George's Police 911 recording. "He took my weed and took my rent money," the victim is recorded telling police. Three masked men entered an unlocked home at 8311 Curry Place, according to Officer Iris Borrero with the Prince George's Police. Two men were inside the home, Borrero said. One of them reported that in addition to taking his marijuana they took around $500 to $600. Police-Involved Shooting in Temple Hills According to police reports, on April 12 at approximately 3 a.m., officers responded to 3107 Good Hope Avenue for a burglary in progress. On arrival, officers were immediately confronted by a man fleeing the scene. The suspect has since been identified as Joseph Barrington Halsey, 23, of the 2000 block of Addison Road South, District Heights, MD. Halsey ran from the officers, hid behind a parked car and then reappeared, acting in a bizarre manner, according to police.
