A man was robbed of money and other items around 1:30 a.m. Sunday.
Police are investigating an armed robbery reported during the early morning hours of Sunday. According to NBC4, a man was flagged down at the intersection of Adelphi Road and University Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. while he was driving in the eastbound lanes. When the victim stopped, the suspect showed him a handgun and jumped into the backseat of the car and told him to drive to Sanford Street, according to the report. Two more men got into the car at Sanford Street and took money and personal belongings from the victim. The suspects ran in the direction of University Hills Duck Pond, according to the victim. Erica Antonette Jackson, 39, was last seen by her husband leaving their home in the 12400 block of Open View Lane, Upper Marlboro on Wednesday morning to go to work. The Prince George's County Police Department is searching for a missing Bladensburg man who suffers from dementia. Seventy-one-year-old Jimmy Richardson, who is not on medication for his condition, was last seen by his neighbor at 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, at his residence at the 4900 block of 56th Ave. in the unincorporated section of Bladensburg. Police believe Richardson walked away from the residence, and he has not been seen or heard from since. Police provide the following description for Richardson: Anyone with information about Richardson is asked to call the Prince George's County Police Department’s District I Investigative Section at 301-699-2601. Governor calls budget package "good for all Marylanders." Republicans say burden to local governments may force county governments to increase taxes.
The Maryland House of Delegates gave final approval Wednesday to a package of three bills that increases taxes on some state residents, shifts part of teacher pensions to local governments and undoes the so-called "doomsday budget." The votes Wednesday afternoon capped the three-day special session called by Gov. Martin O'Malley in order to override more than $500 million in cuts made in a budget passed in early April. The Senate approved the same three bills Tuesday. As part of the package, legislators approved by a vote of 86-51 what amounts to a 50-50 split of teacher pension costs with local governments. CK One and Done: PG Police Sniff Out Perfume Theft Ring For two District of Columbia women, their scented trail of theft has finally been sniffed out by the Prince George's County Police Department (PGPD), with groundwork laid by the Glenarden Police Department. The PGPD arrested 19-year old Darquesha Shelby Wilkinson and 23-year old Latasha Renee Mungo for their involvement in an organized theft ring where thousands of dollars worth of stolen assorted perfumes were recovered, according to police. Loss prevention officers at JC Penney spotted Wilkinson and Mungo stealing assorted perfumes on on May 8, in the store on the 9000 block of McHugh Drive in Glenarden, according to police. They left the store, however, without being detained. …
Undercover officer posed as phone owner to arrest Riverdale man.
William Aparicio-Villacorta, age 30 of Riverdale was recently arrested for attempting to sell a cell phone back to it's original owner. The owner used a friend's phone to text the missing Motorola Droid X, and received a response that the phone was found and would be sold back to him for $150. He then notified University of Maryland Police, who sent a plain clothed officer to make the exchange. After Aparicio-Villacorta showed the undercover officer the phone, the officer identified himself and arrested the suspect, according to a recent Gazette story.
Kevin Bailey, 41, of Washington, D.C., already had an open warrant for fraud. He was charged with theft of less than $1,000 in Monday's incident.
Police arrested a Washington, D.C. man on Monday who they say stole a woman's purse outside of Bagel Place, located at 7423 Baltimore Ave., according to a press statement from the University of Maryland Police. According to the statement: Police arrested Kevin Bailey, 41, of Washington, D.C. and charged him with theft under $1,000. Bailey, a non-student, had an open warrant for fraud through Prince George's County. After a witness reported the incident to police at 3:28 p.m., the Security Operations Center (SOC), which monitors security cameras, spotted Bailey as he fled toward the College Park Metro station on Calvert Road. Fire and rescue crews respond to late-night fire in rental home.
A group of five college student renters may need to find new digs temporarily following a small house fire in University Park yesterday. Fire and rescue crews responded to the 7000 block of Baltimore Avenue in University Park at about 11:20 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, after receiving reports of a deck fire. Upon arrival, they discovered that the deck fire was only part of it. Fire was also found in the basement. Only one of the five tenants of the home was present at the time of the fire, and fire officials on the scene said that the tenant was not aware of the basement fire when he called 911. No one was injured in the blaze, which was quickly put out. However, in order to get access to the fire, firefighters had to chop away the rear wall …

Student's property stolen while left unattended at Cole Field House.
A Greenbelt man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly taking a University of Maryland student's wallet, cell phone and other personal property, according to police. Michael Lee, 50, is charged with theft under $1,000 and trespassing on school grounds, police report. According to a University of Maryland news release: The victim left his belongings unattended while playing soccer at Cole Field House. He noticed a man near his belongings, and later realized they were missing. After the victim reported his missing property, police found that the stolen credit cards were used at a Brentwood gas station. Brentwood Police tracked down Lee, who had the student's property in his possession. Lee is currently being held on $2,000 bond at the Prince …
