Wow! It's very clear that the writer is an extremely conservative Catholic. One who I might say…Read More would likely want those like me removed or reformed, rather than use his Catholic spirit to accept and embrace. With all of the explanation of the "restoration" of the dead language mass and the lashing out against homosexuals, I wonder if the writer will recall that the word Catholic means "universal", or “for all”. It is for God alone to judge the actions of any of us, and I wonder how he will judge the author's judging of others. I was raised in the Church as a student, an alter server, and now a Catholic school teacher. I choose to believe and remember the teachings of acceptance, love, forgiveness and faith. I was appalled when I was in church with my young daughter who was preparing for First Holy Communion, and the priest began to speak about signing a petition regarding gay marriage. He went on endlessly spewing hatred and discussing a topic I had not yet discussed myself with my daughter. While I can accept him even with this attitude, I have to wonder if he would accept me and the way I believe? We certainly can accept that there are those who have conservative, even misguided beliefs, and we can love them as we are called to do, and now it's time for a leader of the Church who will remove the barriers that call ALL to the Church. We need a Pope who is compassionate and understanding an progressive. I pray to God it will be so. Thank you, and may God bless you!
