The Maryland Book Exchange has been a College Park fixture since 1936. The store has expanded greatly from its initial mission as just a bookstore for university faculty and students, now offering a wide range of UMD-branded clothing, memorabilia, gifts, office and art supplies in addition to required textbooks and general interest fiction and magazines.
