Library Founder: 'Books Are Important in Digital Age'

Joe Smith took action to fill the void of an off-campus library in College Park.

The College Park Community Library, fueled by donations and volunteers and housed in the basement of a local church, opened its doors to the public on Wednesday.

Patch sat down with founder Joe Smith, who said he was pleased with the number of people who showed up on that first day, and he talked about why he decided to open the library.

Smith is still looking for volunteers to work at the library, so contact him at cpcomlibrary@gmail.com or 301-910-2433. And although the basement-level room at the is full of teeming shelves, he's still accepting book donations.
