Twine's Car Punching Opens Terp Football For More Criticism

Freshman linebacker Alex Twine was arrested Friday after a University of Maryland Police officer reportedly saw him punching cars in a lot near campus. He ran when the officer told him to stop. A foot chase led to an arrest, according to The Diamondback.

Sports personalities are now poking fun at Twine's behavior.

College sports fan site Lost Letterman likened the episode to Lattimer from the film "The Program," who smashed car windows with his head when he learned he was a starter.

Meanwhile, SB Nation has highlighted a quote from police spokesman Marc Limansky, who said no one reported damage to their cars:

"...it is pretty much the most Maryland football 2011 thing ever to have a guy swinging at cars and do no damage whatsoever to them."

Twine was charged with disorderly conduct and failure to obey a lawful order, according to court documents.

The charges were apparently a gift to himself: According to court documents, Friday was Twine's birthday. The Gaithersburg resident faces trial Jan. 30 at the District Courthouse in Hyattsville.
