Women's B-Ball Hosts Leukemia Awareness Night

The University of Maryland Women’s Basketball team will host Leukemia Awareness Night at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 6 when the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets visit for an ACC match-up. The Terps invite survivors and their families to attend the game free of charge, as we celebrate them, and honor those lost. To claim free tickets, e-mail TerpsSports@umd.edu with your full name, the name of the survivor, and the number of tickets requested.

The event is one that is close to the heart of the University of Maryland Athletics Department and community as Head Women’s Basketball Coach Brenda Frese’s son Tyler was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in late 2010. Tyler is currently in remission, and enjoying all the things a normal four-year-old does, especially playing  with his twin brother Marcus.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Team Tyler will distribute information at the game on how you can help in the fight against blood cancer. For additional information visit www.umterps.com/leukemiaawareness.
