2011 US Open Wildcard Playoff and Tennis Festival

In late August, as the tennis world turns its focus to Flushing Meadows, NY and the US Open, the Junior Tennis Champions Center (JTCC) will host the future stars of American tennis for a three day wildcard playoff. The United States Tennis Association will select eight young men and women who have established themselves as up and coming professional players to compete for a spot in the main draw of the year’s final Grand Slam event.

The three day showcase is an opportunity to watch world-class tennis in the Washington, DC area and introduce you and your guests to the players you will be watching for years to come. 2010 US Open Junior Finalist and JTCC graduate Denis Kudla is a likely entrant. Recent competitors in USTA Grand Slam Wildcard events include Ryan Harrison, Donald Young, Jack Sock, Coco Vandeweghe, Trice Capra, and Lauren Davis.

On Friday, August 19th, there will be two sessions. The afternoon includes three semifinal matches. In the evening, JTCC will have one semifinal and offer you and your guests the opportunity to pick up the racquet and have fun. The “Tennis Carnival” will include tennis clinics, games, and a family barbeque, as well as a team tennis event featuring politicians, local celebrities, players from the Playoff, and former top ATP pros.
