Accomplishment: Browne is one of the 12 winners of the Washington Suburban Sanitary Commission's (WSSC) second annual calendar art contest. Over 550 Montgomery and Prince George's County elementary school students submitted artwork for the calendar, which is designed to raise awareness about pollution in the Chesapeake Bay. WSSC presented Marcus with three copies of the calendar and a check for $100 in a ceremony last week.

Whiz Kid's Key to Awesomeness: "I think I want to be an artist," fifth-grader Marcus said. If you combine that ambition with his favorite subject in school, science, it's easy to see why his drawing was among the winners of the WSSC's calendar art contest. "I think it’s important to take care of the ocean and bay to take care of the animals that live there and we want people to come there and visit and have fun in the ocean," Marcus said. When not drawing, Marcus enjoys playing football, playing with his two brothers and spending time with his family. He also likes going on road trips.
