Turning College Park Into a Top-20 College Town

The Diamondback reports on the progress of committee research, plans.

Committees charged with developing plans to transform our city into a top-20 college town are preparing to turn in those blueprints to the University of Maryland, The Diamondback reported Wednesday.

The committees focus on five areas: transportation, education, housing and development, public safety and sustainability.

Our own Mayor Andrew Fellows chaired the committee for sustainability. He said the city and university are dedicated to making College Park one of the greenest communities in the world, The Diamondback reported.

University President Wallace Loh expressed interest in College Park having its own police force, separate from the university’s force and the Prince George’s County Police, The Diamondback reported.
