After a rousing comeback Sunday in the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals, when the University of Maryland women’s basketball fought to reverse an 18-point deficit, the No. 2 Terps will face top seed Notre Dame at 9 p.m. Tuesday.
The winner moves on to play in the Final Four in Denver next weekend.
Fighting Irish Coach Muffet McGraw said Alyssa Thomas, who was recruited by Notre Dame four years ago, and her frontcourt teammates pose the biggest threat to the team’s second consecutive appearance in the sport’s final weekend, The Diamondback reported.
Terps’ Coach Brenda Frese, who takes the Maryland team to the Elite Eight for the fourth time, said Tuesday won’t be a cake walk for them either.
“It's going to be a very difficult matchup for us since Notre Dame has four future professional players on its roster. That is a formula that gives you a great chance to win a national championship,” she said, according to UM Terps.
