Really? UMD, Towson Ranked Among Ugliest Campuses

Blog slams two Maryland universities over aesthetics.

Is the University of Maryland at College Park one of the ugliest college campuses in the United States? One design and architecture magazine and blog, Complex.com thinks so.

In a list published earlier this month, Complex.com writer Kathryn Henderson wrote that the campus "is a brick wonderland. It's unfortunate Georgian aesthetic choice is the main reason this school gets on the list, with its cold, rigid architecture and need for high security, College Park leaves a lot to be desired."

The Maryland campus was ranked 17th ugliest in the nation by the website. It's not the only Maryland school to make the list. Towson University, ranked the 20th ugliest in the nation, was criticized for being "sterile and bland."
