Veterans Day Celebration Program

Dr. Clement will act as host. Participants include University of Maryland President Dr. Wallace Loh, who will offer welcoming remarks. Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Valarie R. Austin, U.S. Army (Computer Science Major, Class of 2014) will lead the Pledge of Allegiance. Reflections on their experience in the military and as Veterans will be offered by:

  • Rick Hearin (Director, University Career Center & The President's Promise)
  • Shelly Burgoyne (Pat Tillman Military Scholar & Master's Candidate, Public Policy )
  • Edward M. Downey (University of Maryland Alumnus and Former Member, University of Maryland College Park Foundation Board of Trustees)

University chorus Femmes de Chanson (left) will offer two musical selections. The popular musical recognition of all Veterans and their families will be played by the Mighty Sound of Maryland.

The celebration will conclude with a buffet lunch served in the West Chapel Garden. Thanks to a generous donor, $10 will be provided towards a Veteran's scholarship at the University for each participant in the Veterans Day celebration program.
