America's Got Talent Contestant Gymkana Preps for Show at UMd.

The 's Gymkana is prepping for its 66th homeshow this coming weekend, but it's the first since the acrobatics and gymnastics troupe .

Gymkana's reality television stint ended after one athlete  in the semifinals. But the troupe hopes the exposure on AGT will attract its biggest crowd yet for the homeshow, troupe athlete Andrew Waldron said.

You can catch the show at 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Comcast Center. Tickets are sold at the door. .

Patch asked Waldron a few more questions to learn what we can expect during the homeshow, how Gymkana has been doing since AGT, and why he joined the troupe.

Waldron, a resident of University Park, has been involved with Gymkana for years. He attended the program's camp as a child, before coaching at the camp himself. He transferred from the University of Maryland Baltimore County and joined Gymkana this semester.

His favorite stunt—Flipping over six people stacked up on top of a vault box. No big deal.

Patch: How has America's Got Talent impacted the troupe? Are more schools asking for you to visit?
Andrew Waldron: In previous years, the majority of shows have been for local schools. This year, however, Gymkana has had the opportunity to perform [big] events such as a NY Knick's game and the Cherry Blossom Parade, private shows for corporations, and significantly more events on campus.

Patch: Does Gymkana have its eye on any other major competitions in the future?
Waldron: Does the performance this summer at the Miss Virginia USA Pageant count?

Patch: I don't know if many realize that when you do join, you take a pledge not to drink alcohol or do drugs—at all, right? That can be challenging for some. Why did you decide to sign up for Gymkana and sign the pledge?
Waldron: That is correct, every member pledges to be drug and alcohol free. For some the pledge might not be that difficult, and for others it might be extremely hard. But out of love for Gymkana, people are able to stick to it, and that is the case for me.

Patch: Any big surprises we can expect for the homeshow? Will the ring of fire be involved?
Waldron: We tried to mix things up a bit this year and shift away from the traditional view of gymnastics apparatuses. Though, the ring of fire will still make [its] appearance. Wish us luck!
