As the county digs out from the snow and ice, some services are again open today.


The Prince George's County Public Schools are closed on Tuesday, March 4.

The system in under Code Yellow, meaning all schools and offices are closed. Only emergency personnel must report to work.

County offices:

Prince George's County Government will open at 10 a.m. Tuesday with a liberal leave option for all non-essential employees. Essential employees must report as scheduled.


District and Circuit Courts will open at 11 a.m. Employees are to report at 10:30 a.m.

County bus service:

TheBus, a countywide transit service administered by the Department of Public Works and Transportation, will be operating with limited service on all routes on Tuesday, March 4. The county’s Call-A-Bus and Senior Transportation services will not be operating on March 4. Transportation for dialysis services and homebound senior meal delivery will be running on a normal schedule. 

Trash, recycling:

The Prince George’s County Department of Resources says all bulky and regular trash, recycling and yard waste collections are on schedule to resume today, Tuesday, March 4, at a delayed start time. However, some areas may not be reached today due to icy road conditions and will resume as road conditions are evaluated. 

In addition, all operating services located at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill in Upper Marlboro including the Brown Station Road Public Container Pad and Recycling Area, the Household Hazardous Acceptance Site, the Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site, yard waste, scrap tire and appliance disposal sites are open on time. The Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center in Brandywine is also open today.
