What's Open, What's Closed Monday in Prince George's County

What services and offices are open today, and what's closed?

Monday is yet another snow day in the county, schools aren't the only thing closed. Here's a rundown of what is open and closed today.

Trash, recycling service

The Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources has canceled all bulky trash, recycling, yard waste and regular trash collection services because of the weather and hazardous road conditions. Weather permitting, regular collection services will resume on Tuesday, March 4.

All operating services located at the Brown Station Road Sanitary Landfill in Upper Marlboro including the Brown Station Road Public Container Pad and Recycling Area, the Household Hazardous Acceptance Site, the Electronics Recycling Acceptance Site, yard waste, scrap tire and appliance disposal sites are closed. In addition, operating services offered at the Missouri Avenue Solid Waste Acceptance and Recycling Center in Brandywine are closed today.

Prince George's County Public Schools officials have canceled classes for Monday, March 3.


The district is in Code Red, meaning buildings are closed to all personnel as well. 

County government

The Prince George’s County government is closed Monday, March 3, for all non-essential employees. All county buildings are closed. County government essential personnel are required to report to work.

Federal government

Federal offices in the Washington, D.C., area are closed. Emergency and telework-ready employees required to work must follow their agency's policies. Non-emergency employees (including employees on pre-approved paid leave) will be granted excused absence (administrative leave) for the number of hours they were scheduled to work.

Emergency employees are expected to report to their worksite unless otherwise directed by their agencies.
