College Park, University Park Both Seek to Delay Cafritz Rezoning Hearing

Both municipalities wondered if a missed deadline by the county's planning staff was grounds to request a continuance for a Prince George's County Planning Board hearing to rezone , a 38.5-acre parcel south of College Park from residential (R-55) to Mixed-Use Town Center. The Prince George's County Planning Board is set to consider testimony and written submissions on the rezoning proposal at its Dec. 15 meeting. On Friday, Dec. 2, the board's staff issued a 59-page report on the Cafritz application recommending a conditional approval.

But at their Monday meeting, University Park council members questioned whether regulations required that report to be issued 14 days in advance — one day earlier than it was. .

The College Park City Council also wondered on Tuesday if the missed deadline warranted a continuance.

Councilwoman  (Dist. 3) also said she wanted  of the development. Councilmembers said they want to make sure College Park, Riverdale Park and University Park all have the same information.
