Should the Polls Open Earlier Than 11 a.m.?

It's an agenda item for Tuesday's Mayor and Council work session.

Voting in College Park started at 11 a.m. Tuesday, while polls had opened four hours earlier for other area elections, like , and .

“It’s been that way forever,” Chief Election Supervisor Jack Robson said on Election Day. “It’s because it’s a very long day, and it’s the opinion of the supervisors that opening early will not improve turnout in any material way.”

Polling place hours are outlined in the city code as being 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., but council will discuss extending the hours at Tuesday’s work session.
