O'Malley on Perry: 'All Hat and No Cattle'

Texas Gov. Rick Perry appears in radio ads critical of Maryland's business climate.

Gov. Martin O’Malley isn’t very pleased with Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry.

"I know from past experience that the gentleman is all hat and no cattle," O’Malley told the Washington Post prior to the Maryland Democratic Party gala in Greenbelt Thursday night.

Perry has irked O’Malley, and other Democratic governors, by appearing in radio ads trying to lure businesses to Texas by criticizing states such as Maryland, California and Missouri as having high taxes and too much regulation.

The Texas governor is scheduled to follow up the radio ads by visiting the state to hold private meeting with companies, according to The Baltimore Sun.

Perry is considered a possible candidate for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016. He sought his party’s nomination in 2012 until a series of gaffes, such as forgetting the third federal agency he wanted to eliminate during a televised debate, derailed the campaign.

It’s widely speculated that O’Malley is also considering a run for president in 2016. But if O’Malley’s comments during the gala dinner about the pair’s Politico sponsored debate in 2011 are any indication he doesn’t consider Perry much of a threat.

"I kicked his a--, and he never came back," O’Malley said, according to The Washington Post.
