New Fuel Surcharge Adds a Dollar to Taxi Trips

County Executive Rushern Baker signed an executive order that adds a dollar surcharge to cab fares when the price of gas exceeds $3 per gallon.

If you thought you could escape the high price of gas by catching a cab, you were wrong.

County Executive Rushern Baker signed an executive order Wednesday that adds a dollar surcharge to cab fares when the price of regular gas exceeds $3 per gallon.

The surcharge will take effect immediately and will remain in place until June 30, 2012, though it may be rescinded earlier in the event that gas prices drop.
