Here's a brief summary of some of the scheduled discussion items. For the full agenda, go here.

  • Did you enjoy the farmers markets this summer? Councilman Marcus Afzali and Economic Development Coordinator Michael Stiefvater will discuss how the farmers markets went, and the strategies for moving forward.
  • The University of Maryland requested that the city write a letter supporting the release of state funds for East Campus. Associate Vice President of Facilities Management Carlo Colella is scheduled to be there to discuss the matter with council.
  • Council will review the agenda items for the Jan. 31 Four Cities Meeting in College Park. Dr. Wallace Loh, president of the University of Maryland, will be the featured guest.
  • Representatives from the College Park Recreation Board will be on hand to discuss field use policies. This follows September's vote to allow the Stingers women's rugby team to again use Duvall Field for practices. the issue should be discussed further because city policy only allows for the Boys & Girls Club to use the field for free, and so the policy should be adjusted accordingly.
  • Council will also discuss the annual liquor license renewals, the homeownership grant program, and the city revitalization tax credit policy.
  • City Manager Joe Nagro will provide guidance over the fiscal year 2013 budget.
