MEETING PREVIEW: Charter Amendment Petitions, Farmers' Market and More

The College Park Mayor and Council will convene for its regular voting meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of .

Those who wish to attend can pick up a free parking pass from the first floor of city hall. Residents can also watch the meeting live on the city website.

Before the regular meeting, residents will have the opportunity to discuss the city’s Fiscal Year 2013 Action Plan at a public hearing beginning at 7:15 p.m. Every year, the city adopts an action plan of specific tasks and goals as part of the 2010-2015 strategic plan. Petitions for Charter Amendments

The city has received two petitions for charter amendments to be included on a ballot for referendum by city voters. The council will vote on a motion that would refer the petitions to the Supervisor of Elections, along with a legal opinion from the city attorney on whether or not the petitions are appropriate for a charter amendment. .

Farmers' Market

Council will also vote on a motion that would establish a city-appointed , which takes place on Sundays in the city hall parking lot.

Revitalization Funding

The city has received over $1.3 million in revitalization grants and loans for U.S. Route 1 through the state’s Community Legacy Program—soon to be the Sustainable Communities program—since 2001. Council will vote on a resolution endorsing that all of College Park be designated as a Sustainable Community, with emphases on specific areas of the city. The resolution, if approved, would also adopt a Sustainable Community Plan, making the city eligible for continued state funding.

Council will consider appointments to city boards and committees, including seven appointments to the newly formed .
