How Did Prince George's County Vote in 2008?

Will the results in 2012 be similar to those in 2008?

Four years ago—on Tuesday, Nov. 4, 2008—the Obama-Biden ticket received 88.9 percent of the general election vote in Prince George's County according to the Maryland State Board of Elections.

The McCain-Palin ticket, in comparison, got only 10.4 percent of the county's votes, according to the board.

Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Dist. 5) won his House of Representatives seat four years ago with 84.8 percent of the vote. His Republican challenger, Collins Bailey, received 12.9 percent of the county's votes.

Across the state, about 430,000 Marylanders voted early in the 2012 election, The Baltimore Sun reported:

Democrats made up two-thirds (66 percent) of the 430,000 early voters, outvoting Republicans 3.2 to 1, compared to their voter registration edge of 2 to 1, according to the State Board of Elections website. Democratic women made up 42 percent of early voters, while they make up a third (33 percent) of total registered voters. Republicans made up 20 percent of early voters, and independent (unaffiliated) voters made up just 11 percent.
