Competing Student Designs for Hollywood Gateway Park Project Viewable Online

City Council to discuss 2012 Open Space funds for greenspace project at today's meeting

The City has made student design suggestions for the Hollywood Gateway Park Project available for public viewing. The drawings by teams of landscape architecture students from the University of Maryland depict ideas for developing the plot of land at the U.S. Route 1 and Edgewood Road intersection into a greenspace.

Councilman Patrick Wojahn said a judging committee is in the process of selecting a winning contest submission, though it will not necessarily become the adopted design for the Gateway Park location, which is a part of Wojahn's 1st District.

Wojahn also said no other formal designs for the lot have been put forward.

Even while discussion ensues over the design for the project, City Council will debate a proposal that would deny all 2012 Open Space Project funds to the project, instead reserving the entire $174,774 to renovating Duvall Field.

The meeting will begin at 8 p.m. in City Hall at 4500 Knox Road.
