Request to WMATA for Replanting at the Greenbelt Metro Station

Following an assault that happened at the metro station last May, the city council asked metro police to clear some of the brush around the path that leads to north College Park from the metro station. As a result, . The Committee for a Better Environment drafted a letter asking that WMATA help replant some of the area around the creek so that the stormwater runoff can be better managed.

Maryland Green Registry

The Maryland Green Registry is a voluntary program that is open to organizations and government entities who qualify as being sufficiently "green." Formation of a City Foundation

The city council will discuss the possibility of forming a foundation to raise and provide funds for city projects, such as College Park Day, an arts and performance space, and other cultural pursuits. As a template, the city will look to the Columbia Foundation, which has provided the initial funding for projects like the Maryland Museum of African Arts and the Columbia Festival.

Route 1 Lane Closures

With the construction happening along Route 1, workers have been known to block off Route 1 without giving any advance warning. Being that these lane closures are occurring with the consent of the State Highway Administration, the city council invited  representatives from the SHA to Tuesday's worksession to discuss why they allow these lane closures, and find out if there's a way of restricting them to off-peak hours.
