General Discussion about the College Park City - University Partnership

In 1997, the city of College Park and the University of Maryland established the College Park City - University Partnership, with the goal of collaborating on such issues as development and housing. The Live & Work College Park program, for example, was born from this partnership. Tonight, the council will discuss the status of the partnership, and how it can be strengthened.

Preliminary Discussion about City Redistricting

Every ten years, the city resets its boundaries for city council representation based on updated census data, which will be released next spring. Tonight, the council will discuss appointing members to a Redistricting Commission, which will be in charge of assessing the data and resetting districts accordingly.

Each year, the State Department of Transportation releases its projected six-year budget for capital transportation projects. Despite redevelopment of Route 1 being a priority issue for College Park and Prince George's County, the report does not mention funding for the project. It does, however, propose funding for the Purple Line. The city council will discuss sending a letter to MDOT to restore funding for rebuilding Route 1, as well emphasizing support of the Purple Line.
