City Council Meeting Preview: June 14

A summary of the major agenda items for Tuesday's meeting

The College Park City Council meeting will start at 8 p.m. today at the Council Chambers on the second floor of City Hall, located at 4500 Knox Road. A public hearing to review a proposal by the Redistricting Commission will precede the regular meeting at 7:30 p.m.

Redistricting plan up for public comment

The Council selected one of three plans submitted by the Redistricting Commission to open up for public comment at 7:30 p.m. The design proposal redefines council district boundaries for city elections. If this plan were adopted, changes would include the addition of apartment complexes to District One.

FY 2012 Action Plan

There will be a motion to approve the City’s FY 2012 Action plan tonight. Residents' opinions were gauged at a public hearing in March, which led to revisions regarding the improvement of customer and constituent service, pedestrian and traffic safety, and revitalization of the Berwyn Commercial District.

Program Open Space

Council will decide tonight how to divvy up its FY 2012 Program Open Space allocation. Councilwoman Christine Nagle the entire $174,774 be devoted to renovating , challenging the City Staff recommendation to allocate $86,000 to Hollywood Gateway Park and the remainder to Duvall Field.
