Calling All Local Presidential Hopefuls...

The deadline to file for the presidential primary election is Wednesday.

A potential candidate for U.S. senate emerged from College Park this fall, when announced he wants to challenge Democratic incumbent Sen. Ben Cardin.

But is there a local presidential candidate out there?

The deadline approaches for Prince George's County citizens who wish to file for the primary election to become a candidate for president, vice president, U.S. House of Representatives, judge of the Circuit Court, Delegate-Democratic National Convention and Delegate-Republican National Convention.

Those interested must file their certificate of candidacy by 9 p.m. Wednesday, with the Maryland State Board of Elections, located at 151 West St., Suite 200 Annapolis, MD 21401.

The presidential primary election is April 3, 2012.

Candidates for the Board of Education, district 1, 4, 5, 7 and 8 seats must file their certificate of candidacy with the Prince George’s County Board of Elections at 16201 Trade Zone Ave., Suite 108, Upper Marlboro, MD  20774.
