Bike to Work Day Registration Now Open

Co-sponsored by WABA and MWCOG, last year's Bike to Work Day had 9,200 registered participants.

With temperatures now regularly in the 40s and 50s, it has become possible once again to ride a bike without fear of your face freezing over and falling off.

What better way to celebrate the transition into spring than registering for Bike to Work Day?

Co-sponsored by the Washington Area Bicycle Association and the Metropolitan Washington Council of Government's Commuter Connections, Bike to Work Day will be held on May 20 as a means of celebrating biking as an enjoyable and sustainable mode of transportation.

Though participation is as simple as electing to get on your bike and not in your car, registering has its perks: a free t-shirt to the first 8,500 registrants, and the opportunity for free food, drinks and raffle prizes to those who pop by one of the 50 designated pit stops scattered around D.C., Maryland and Virginia -- one of which will be located at from 6:30 to 8:30 a.m.

Over 9,200 people registered for Bike to Work Day last year, and WABA hopes to break 10,000 this year. You can register yourself on WABA's website.
