Weekend Crime Report: Muggings on Berwyn Road, Berwyn House Road

Two separate groups of UMd. students were mugged over the weekend

This weekend, two separate groups of UMd. students were mugged within half a mile of one another on Berwyn Road and Berwyn House Road.

The first incident occurred around 1 a.m. on Friday in the parking lot of the Clarion Hotel on Baltimore Avenue at Berwyn Road. Three UMd. students were getting into a car when they were approached by three suspects, who police described as black men in their 20's, all wearing dark clothes. Two of the suspects had dreadlocks, and one was reported to be holding a handgun.

A scuffle ensued, and the suspects escaped down Berwyn Road after taking the property of at least one victim, though police cannot confirm specifically what was stolen. Minor injuries were reported, but medical assistance was denied at the scene. Police have questioned two suspects, but no arrests have been made.
