UMd. Student Died of Stroke

Preliminary medical examiner report shows that Pat Anita Eamsureya suffered a blood clot in her brain.

A University of Maryland international student who was July 7 suffered  from a stroke caused by a blood clot in her brain, according to a medical examiner preliminary report, said university police spokesman Capt. Marc Limansky.

Limansky said the roommates who lived with her at South Campus Commons Building 3 last saw Pat Anita Eamsureya a week earlier, perhaps as recently as July 1. He said that classmates last reported seeing Eamsureya in class June 22 and 23, but she was missing on Tuesday, July 5 and Wednesday, July 6.

Eamsureya's Twitter account shows a final Tweet, in a foreign language, on July 4.

Eamsureya, who is from Thailand, was a study abroad student. Tam Nguyen, an orienter who volunteered to help international students adjust at Maryland, said he really didn't have to assist Eamsureya.

"She was always very independent," he said.
