UPDATED: Three Incidents of Sexual Assault Occurred in Same Night

University of Maryland Police released video of a man running from the area where one of the incidents occurred.

Update, 3 p.m. Sept. 19: Early in the morning of Sept. 9, three female University of Maryland students in three separate incidents awoke to a man fondling their bodies, according to UMd. police reports.

In all three cases, there was no sign of forced entry, according to UMd. police reports. Only one of the incidents took place in an on-campus apartment.

  • 1. As reported in the original story below, a female student awoke at 3:30 a.m. in her on-campus apartment to a man fondling her in bed. This occurred at the Leonardtown Apartments on Norwich Road. The victim described the man as having curly hair and a striped hat.
  • 2. The second incident, reported to the Prince George's County Police, occurred between 2:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. when a female student at the 4700 block of College Avenue awoke to a man touching her back and buttocks. The female woke up her boyfriend who was in bed with her, at which point the suspect left. The suspect is described as being a white male, about 20 years old with short dark hair. He was wearing a dark shirt, dark pants and weighed about 180 pounds, according to the UMd. report. The county police department is conducting an investigation.
  • 3. Between 4 a.m. and 5 a.m., a female student awoke at the 7500 block of Rhode Island Avenue to a man touching her body. She reported the incident to the Prince George's police. The suspect is described as being a white male with dark hair. County police are investigating the incident.

A female University of Maryland student awoke early Sept. 9 to a man she did not know fondling her in bed, according to a UMd. Police Bulletin.

According to the police: The incident occurred at Leonardtown Apartments on Norwich Road. After the student awoke, she screamed and the man ran from the scene.

The victim said he had curly hair and a striped hat.

There was no sign of forced entry.

Police have since released a video of a man running from the area.
