Two On-Campus Residences Burglarized Sunday

Campus police urge students to keep doors, windows locked.

Two University of Maryland on-campus residences were burglarized early Sunday morning.

According to a UMd. alert message, the first burglary occurred around 4:56 a.m. at South Campus Commons Building #4. While evacuated for a fire alarm, a resident noticed a suspect standing near her bedroom window take a bag from within her room and then leave in the direction of South Campus Commons #2. The resident also saw a second suspect jump from her window and flee toward Baltimore Avenue.

The first suspect is described as a heavyset black or Indian male with a light complexion. He is approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with black hair, and was wearing an orange track jacket.

The second suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, and is approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall with dreadlocks. He was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with the numeral "2" printed on the back.

The second incident occurred between 3 a.m. and 9 a.m. at the South Campus Commons Building #3, when a suspect entered the room through an unlocked window, according to the UMd. crime alert. The resident returned to find the window open, the blinds broken and cracked and the curtains knocked down. The resident also noticed several items missing from the room.
