Three UMd. Students Mugged on Berwyn House Rd.

Three victims were waiting for the bus when they were accosted by five suspects.

Three University of Maryland students were robbed early Sunday morning on Berwyn House Road.

According to police, the victims were standing at the University of Maryland bus stop on the 4800 block of Berwyn House Road around 1:30 a.m., when they were approached by a suspect who asked if they were waiting for the bus. The victims confirmed that they were, and the suspect left, only to return shortly thereafter with four more suspects. The suspects then demanded the victim's belongings and, before the victims could respond, began to assault them.

Two victims were able to escape without injury to a nearby fire station. The third was unable to escape and was punched several times in the face, resulting in minor injuries. The suspects then ran off in an unknown direction, having taken a total of less than $50 in cash from the victims.
